I currently own a prebuilt PC Which is HP Z400 Workstation and I'm looking to upgrade it's GPU and turn this into a semi-decent rig able to run some games. I was wondering, since the computer has the Intel x58 ICH10R motherboard, will I be able to put a GTX 1050ti on it or anything lower? Can't find any general answers online so I have to ask here. Any help or tips are appreciated, thanks in advance!

If it has a conventional Intel X58 motherboard, you should be able to use any gfx card you can afford and that your PSU can handle.
[strike]If it has a proprietary HP board simply using the Intel X58 chipset, there might be a problem with the board recognizing the GPU. Unlikely, but possible. What, if any, gfx card do you have in there now?[/strike]

Update: I guess the video SR-71 Blackbird found answers that!

In this PC, I currently have an Nvidia Quadro 2000
