Hi. i want to know if my PC Specs hold up against the PS5 + Xbox Series X. ive recently purchased a 144hz Gysnc Monitor for my PC. im just curious if my PC will hold up against the New Consoles for another 2 Years atleast. my PC is about 4/5 years old now. so i thought i would take advantage of the higher refresh rates at 1080p.

My PC Specs:

i7 6700 (non k). at 4.00ghz
MSI Armor GTX 1070 8Gb. OC
16GB of DDR4 Ram at 2133mhz
230gb Kingston SSD M.2
1TB WD Drive 7200rpm
3TB Toshiba Drive 7200rpm

My PC is a Pre - Built PC from MSI Aegis Series which i have owned for roughly 4/5 years now
https://www.msi.com/Desktop/Aegis-3

heres the link the one i have is no longer listed on the site. but its very similar in specs the one in the link is running an i7 7700. i know its not the most ideal PC. since i should Build One. but this was my First Ever PC years ago.

Solution
"keep up with the consoles"
thats an arbitrary thing to say.
do you mean, outperform? you can't know, some games might run better on pc, some might on the consoles. also the consoles have much more careful and better optimization.
do you mean, run the games that will be on those consoles? that is a yes.
at what resolution and settings? we dont know, each game is different.

that computer is not bad, but its not the mid-high end it once was. it can run every game that is out there, and will continue to run every game for.. probably the next couple of years, but obviously as time goes on games will look better and you will have to lower either resolution or any eyecandy.

they say the next gen consoles will do 8k 60fps, and 4k 144fps, but...

the current consoles dont do even close to 4k 60, maybe with upscaled 1080p to 4k in a very light indie game, but struggle getting anywhere close to playable at 4k in demanding AAA games.

they were actually advertised as 4k ready, so.. if you do basic interpertation, the new consoles will probably do 4k 60 pretty easily in almost all games, get playable fps in upscaled 8k in indie games and same for 4k high refresh rate.

Solution
Get next gen console and forget PC, if what you do is only gaming. Gaming Consoles were always meant for game and always meant for game, and when you compare it with your pc, in terms of gaming, it would beat your PC in Gaming, but Gaming Consoles cant do other computation stuffs like Make An animation, edit complex video, etc. Also remember when PS4 used to be a good Gaming Console? It use custom AMD Jaguar and a GDDR5 memory to run the system. Now even a PS4 couldnt run game Beautifully in 4K60FPS constant. Your PC is different, you could upgrade your pc and still play games to the max settings, while Gaming Console graphic settings already being set. so the answer is depends on your need, your PC will do all you need even if it's not a top tier like it was used before :D

See the difference is. i recently brought a 1080p 144hz Gsync Monitor which i absolutely Love Btw probably the best purchase i have made after being used to 60hz for Years. I Feel like my PC has other Advantages and obviously can get over 100+ FPS in games where the consoles will be targeting 4K 30 or Either 4K 60fps. But i think the other benefit of PC Gaming is i dont have to Pay to Play Online and The Games are Cheaper aswell. A part of me feels like getting a console but i dont really wanna get one. the only Console i would get is the PS5 for its Exclusives. but even then its paying for all the services. This is why i took Advantage of Higher Refresh Rates and is so Smooth especially with Gsync which helps Eliminate Stuttering and Screen Tearing. my Only Option really is to Save up Enough Money $1500 and just get a New PC Build from PC Specialist yeah its a Pricey Purchase but in the long run i feel like i can do so much more. Mods/Emulators/Free Online/Cheaper Games.
