I have a thermaltake smart m850w and I'm going to buy a GTX1080Ti in the next few days, is my PSU fine for a 1080ti or should I buy a different one? My Cpu is the i5-4690k.
This review shows only 3 year warranty ?! WTH. should be still fine though. Normally a 550/650 good quality unit is enough for your rig. your psu is solid despite the short warranty period...
It's quite an old power supply, not many manufacturers offered much better than a 3 year warranty back then. Seasonic had a some PSU's with a 5 year warranty. Then EVGA started giving out 7 year warrentys which seemed to start a warranty war with a lot of PSU manufacturers and vendors.
It has far more than enough power for a 2080 ti and is decent quality for the time. I would have no problem using it for a while longer.
It's based on the same CWT PUQ(B) platform as the current Corsair CX850M model. Corsair offers a 5 year warranty on their model whereas Thermaltake only offers a 3 year warranty.
It is way more than enough to handle your system running with any GeForce GTX 1080 Ti card.
