So the current situation is, I have a Desktop running Windows 7 at the moment, not a custom build and I'm upgrading.
The upgraded build will have an 120GB SSD + 1 TB HDD, obviously I want the SSD to be the boot drive, and no parts are being reused from the old PC.

As most of you know, Microsoft now offers Windows 10 for free for any Windows 7 or 8 users. Since they're offering it for free, I want to save some money on buying an OS, so I was wondering if there was any possible way I could somehow get free copy of Windows 10 onto my SSD. Could I somehow download it onto a USB? Not sure if this would work.

Thanks

Oh and also, this is my prospect build; comments would be appreciated :D Gaming/3D Modelling Rig - Planning to overclock

Intel i7 4790k 4Ghz 8M
MSI Twin Frozr GTX 970 3.5+0.5 GB <- Will probably Change for GTX980 since price going down after 980Ti release**
Asus Z97 Maxima VII Ranger
WD 1TB 3.5 Inch HDD
Corsair Vengeance Pro 2x4GB RAM
Corsair Builder Series CXM 600W Modular PSU

**Or should I wait for AMD 300 Series to release, I only have ~£300 GBP to play with

Solution
They're not giving you a 'free' second OS.
They are giving you a free upgrade from your current Windows 7 to Windows 10. You don't get to use both.

Now....can you install that single OS on a new drive? Probably.
Let us wait and see exactly what flows out from Microsoft in the next few weeks.

So you have a OEM of Windows 7 now? You can only get the free upgrade if you install it on the same machine as the OS your upgrading from. If you current OS is OEM that means it's tied to the machine also. So your options are could keep the old machine Windows 7 or upgrade it. Your options with the new machine is to wait 6 weeks and get it with Windows 10 which OEM is 109 Home or 149 Pro. Windows 7 or 8.1 would be a little cheaper but you would eligible to upgrade to Windows 10 until July 29 2016.
