Was't sure if this was the proper section... PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BEFORE POSTING!

This is the PC I'm building, we had a storm 2 months ago and we got Softball size hail and some tornadoes. (Texas) and it busted all my windows at my business and damaged my computer. The insurance is replacing it and want to get some peoples opinions. I understand there are things that could be better such as the tower, I WANT THE EIGHT CORE, IT'S WHAT I HAD BEFORE, same graphics card. I understand things could be better, but I got to get a replacement of the same value/part and if it's discontinued I got to get the "newer version" of it. So, just judge based upon what I'm building, NOT BETTER PARTS.

CD-ROM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204 [newegg.com]

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147153 [newegg.com]

Harddrive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136533 [newegg.com]

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131736 [newegg.com]

Graphics Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130683 [newegg.com]

Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171049 [newegg.com]

Speakers: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121044 [newegg.com]

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231315 [newegg.com]

Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103960 [newegg.com]

Icicle: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882436005 [newegg.com]

Heatsink: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099 [newegg.com]

Microphone: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA03A08A6466 [newegg.com]

Once again, this is what I can get replaced as a "newer version" or the same part it was before. If I could get better, I would. But, this is what I have to work with. I will upgrade the card with my own money, and I know the mobo is fantastic. Please keep in mind this is almost the same build I had before, just a "newer version" .... ALSO, the reason why I'm getting that tower is because I'm limited on space. I have to have it below 17" in height or it won't fit into it's "cubby-hole". If you have ANY suggestions on a better tower, please share. PLEASE make sure the tower is below 17"

The microphone and Icicle are 2 things also damaged, ignore those, a long with the speakers.

Note: Was on another thread and I got things like "Get Intel". My rebuttal? Don't want Intel. Also got "1000 PSU is overkill". My rebuttal? It leaves ample room for upgrades.

My response is: A quality 750 watt PSU leave you with all the options you could want (with the possible exception of Tri-SLI). A quality 550 watt PSU would run your system as it sits without breaking a sweat.

My response is: Hence the reason I accepted your choice in an octo-core processor and a less than ultimate GPU.

Yes, that is the case.

Gaming, music, graphics. I don' use a PC to it's full potential. I don't need a $300 i7 or anything. It suffices for what I need. I'm not the picky person on needing 1920x1080 Ultral 16x AA super graphics. I just want to make sure all components are compatible and maybe see if there is a better choice in a tower, or maybe graphics card.

I would buy the graphics card later, just checking to see if anyone has had problems or herd of problems with the Sabertooth. I've read my fair share of reviews and such, but I want to be 100% sure on everything.

Again I'm not that kind of a person to need the super PC of the town. I just want to make sure what I'm getting is worth my time, or if there is certain components that are easily upgradeable. Such as graphics, RAM, CD-ROM, Harddrive, Power Supply. I don't really want to change my mobo and CPU.

Well, the motherboard, CPU and RAM are pretty much the heart and soul of a system. Everything else is pretty much upgrade at will. Since you're dead set on the core of the system and insurance is only replacing components, there's not much room for swapping components off the bat anyway. Later on, down the line, I can see a better graphics card and an SSD.

As for the lack of responses, well, you state flat out that you're not changing your CPU choice despite the advice others have given you. Given your usage, I don't understand it either, but ok.

Others have also told you that you don't need a 1000 watt PSU, but you dismiss that with the idea of having extra headroom. You'd need to be running a Tri-SLI set up to even push a quality 1000 watt PSU and yet you state, "I'm not the picky person on needing 1920x1080 Ultral 16x AA super graphics".

You ask for opinions about a system, but declare that the most important components of the system are off limits. Just how many responses to you expect? A lot of the people here have been doing this for many more years than I have. If you're not going to listen to them, then why would they respond in a thread?

Just my $0.02

The 1000 watt leaves me options in the future. What I have is what's in front of me, I am stating I don't want people to believe I am wanting to run games at 1920x1080 Ultra settings. People do take that into consideration when it comes to setups such as this. Maybe if you'd read what I said, you'd have a different outtake. I am looking for a better tower, if possible. Also looking to see if everything is compatible and if anything "under-achieves" the other. If there is something better, then state it. Rather it be something I don't want to change or not.

There's no need to gripe about what is being stated when you can simply tell the person "Well the FX isn't that great as it doesn't blah blah blah" and lead me to better things.

Just my $0.02

Does that mean you're looking for a better case or a better system overall?

Kind of hard to argue against that when Intel is clearly the better option for your usage.

I'll be the first to admit that some folks here can be extremely fanboy-ish and blindly say you should do this or you should do that. What I said was that if you're dead set on the core components of you system then there's not much else to discuss. The components you've selected are all compatible and they should perform sufficiently. In my opinion, if I were building (or replacing) a system which main purpose is:
Gaming, music, graphics. I don' use a PC to it's full potential.
Your system will do fine.

Thank you, that is the kind of answers I was looking for. But because someone is dead set on something, doesn't mean you can't persuade them to other choices/options. I don't know much about the 8150 to the i7 2600K .... As a person who plays games, produces music, and works on graphics I see eight cores as a better option than 4 cores. And not just the cores, as when I am working on music I have upwards of 6 HEAVY program running. Hence why I have 16GB's..... With the programs I run they take up about 2GB's a piece when I am running them for awhile.

I just see the eight core working better for what I need. A game is going to run well on the 8150 or the 2600K to me. Also picking up this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147135 ..... Thoughts? I was going to get 2 Crucial 64GB's but their write speeds were horrible at only 150. But the price would be the same for the same amount and be MUCH faster.

Also "uped" the card to a GTX 670 because I am wanting to run 3 monitors. As of right now I have 2, and I think the 670 will suffice better. Thoughts? It's only $130 more, so I don't think that's too bad. I'll throw that in myself. I looked at benchmarks and the 680 only does a small bit better. I don't see the small bit it does worth $100 more than the extra $130 I'm spending.

Please by all means persuade me, I'd love to get the Sabertooth Intel version with an i7 but that's a price jump of $120 and as I said before I run multiple programs doing music. A long with graphic design, too.

Thoughts on the card upgrade, the SSD, and the CPU & mobo?

...when I am working on music I have upwards of 6 HEAVY program running...[/url]

As I said, I suppose if you're a very heavy multi-tasker, or you're running multiple virtual machines, this system would be fairly decent. No worries here. Yes, an Intel Core I5 would perform better in gaming systems, but it might not perform as well as an 8-core AMD system would when you're working on music.

In regards to the SSD, I'm not sure you need one that large. The SSD should only be used for the OS and the programs you use. Anything you create, edit and would save (documents, images, etc), should be stored on a separate mechanical drive. I have Windows 7, Office 2010, and a few games installed on an 80GB hard disk drive. If I were to upgrade my system, it would be to add a 120 GB SSD. That would be enough to handle all my programs/games.

I see no problem with upgrading the graphics card.

Kev, it sounds like your only open to case suggestions.
[ i have to agree with others that 1,000 watt p/s is way overkill & a waste of purchase monies + long term utility bills.. It will cut your heating bill, but raise your A/C bill !!]

Anyway i have been using the Antec 900 cases for some time on builds. highly recomended.

this new build i went with Zalman Z-11 Plus.
cost with rebate was like $40
Black Anodizes inerior with absolutley no sharp cutting edges, also came with good hardware & ext. CPU cable..

A Guy knows in his own head what he wants, so you go Dude !!
