Hi all, so I have parts for a build incoming -

i9 9900k
Asus ROG STRIX Z390-E

So considering that the i9 9900k has 16 pcie lanes I decided it was okay to grab 2 RTX 2080 GPUs to run in dual x8

But I also am planning on using a m.2 NVME for my OS and was curious if that will interfere at all with the GPUs considering that my CPU is x16 pcie lanes.
I am assuming from what I have read that the m.2 uses pcie that the motherboard provides? I have seen a lot of mixed and outdated answers so I figure I would ask myself with specifics. Thank you

Your manual says at page 1-21 :
When the M.2_1(Socket 3) is operating in SATA mode, SATA port 2 (SATA6G_2) will be disabled.
Considering that you will use an M.2 SSD NVMe PCIe SSD, my oppinion is your PCIe lanes will not be affected by the M.2 NVMe SSD.
The only limitation with using an M.2 SSD on your motherboard is when you use an M.2 SATA SSD. In this case, SATA port 2 will be disabled.
It is not relevant that you will use two GPUs in x8x8 mode or you use a single GPU in x16 mode. The PCIe lanes will not be affected.
