Question about performance (i5 7600 + gtx 1080 + 1440p 144HZ)

Hi there!
So my current build has an i5 7600 non k as CPU. I have a GTX 1080 8 GB OC Windforce, and planning on getting a new screen with a 1440p (2K) resolution and a refresh rate of 144hz.
Then, will the CPU drag the build down? Would I be able to mac games and maintining an average rate of 100hz+? Should I just go for a 2k 60HZ screen?

the i5 will bottleneck on some newer AAA titles
depends on which games you want to play on.

also you can tune down the refresh rate of your screen if the i5 can't hold acceptable frames
from the benchmarks I've seen, it averages around 100fps in most games though

however to get a significant improvement in performance you'll need to spend. Not just on a K series cpu, but on a good cooling solution and you'll need to overclock.

I would be happy maintining a stable 100hz rate, since I come from a 1080p 60hz screen. What screen would be worth it then?

Will it make new games unplayable tho? Would it be okay for 2k 60hz gaming?
