Hey all!

My cousin recently gave me a free Alienware Area 51 7500.
It has stock everything if I am correct, with a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, but it doesn't have a graphics card installed. The motherboard is SLI enabled so my question is should i get one good Geforce card or two older ones working in SLI and which one will be better for my CPU in terms of bottlenecking. Which card or cards, should I get? Budget is preferably under 75. It also only has 1gb of RAM and as i understand it can only have up to 4, but the motherboard supports 8? What would happen if I put in a 2x4 in, instead of a 2x2, will I be able to use the extra 4gb of ram? 4gb is not that much anymore, especially when running 2 graphics cards.

Graphic cards now, on an even comparison scale, are more than twice as fast as cards that were available when that PC came out. A good single mid range card is all you need to be a great match for the rest of that PC. You also must have a PSU big enough to run your graphic card selection. A plus about modern cards, they require less power, as they have become much more power efficient. They run cooler too. Go here and read this.

Install memory in exact pairs. Memory will only run in dual channel mode with matching sets in each, or both banks. If the PC has a 32 bit OS, get 2x2 for 4 gig. You must have a 64 bit OS to use more than 4 gig. If it has a 64 bit OS, or...
