Hi,

I have ordered a replacement laptop screen from Amazon to replace the cracked screen on my chrome book. However the product page is a bit sketchy, as not much information is provided. I am afraid that this display might be made cheaply and can harm me. I don’t know much but I am worried the materials might not be of high quality and are cheaply sourced and therefore can contain toxic and harmful substances? Are my suspicions and worries valid? I am seriously considering throwing out this current chrome book with a cracked screen without repairing it with the part I ordered, and instead buy a new one with an OEM screen that I can trust. I worry about my health especially around electronics, concerning radioactivity and toxic substances that can come from the materials used in the inner workings of electronics.

Here is the link to the matte LCD screen I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0716HGBNT?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image

Although the product page says “HP Genuine,” it is being shipped from a company called “BrightFocal,” and in the description it says it ships from “AG Parts Education.”

That looks to be an original equipment part, so if it has toxic substances, which it assuredly does, as do practically ALL electronics, then the original one did as well. The only way to entirely avoid toxic chemicals, substances and materials is to, well, there is no way.

Just because another company is shipping it and is the seller, does not in any way mean it isn't original equipment. I am not, in fact, even aware of any companies offering aftermarket display panels for laptops so pretty much all, or at least the vast majority of what you see will be spare parts from the OEM or the company that supplied the OEM to begin with. There will be some exceptions but they will generally be noted by the seller unless they are extremely...

I've ordered electronics off Amazon from Brightfocal before, and personally have not had any problems. That doesn't mean you can't have problems, but I doubt it.
