Question about Samsung Magician SSD firmware update, Samsung 840 EVO

I copied over everything from my HDD to a Samsung 840 EVO 1TB using Samsung's software. The only difference from their instructions is that I physically plugged in the SSD instead of using some USB to disk cable. I disconnected the HDD and booted from the SDD and everything is fine, I opened up some files and everything seems to be working. However I'm having problems with Samsung's Magician software. First off, when I open the .exe, it prompts me saying theres a new update. I have v4.1 and there is a new Magician update v4.4, but whenever I try to download I get a popup error saying:

"Windows cannot open the folder.

The Compressed (zipped) Folder 'C:\ProgramData\Samsung\SSD Magician\Site Link\Samsung_Magician_Setup_v44.zip' is invalid."

I can decline to update and continue. I also have a firmware update for the SSD, which I also can't update. My current firmware is EXT0CB6Q and there is an update for EXT0BB6Q. If I try to open it fails immediately saying "Magician is unable to locate files needed for firmware update". A google search shows that others have had similar problems, but those posts are many years old.

So my questions are
1) what should I do about these updates, both Magician and firmware?
2) what do I even need to do with this Magician software? Samsung doesn't provide any real instructions with the SSD, its all pictures. It just shows a PC booting up this program after installing the SSD. Is this just to run OS and Performance optimizations? And should I even run them with the old version/firmware?

EDIT: potentially useful info: running Windows 7 on an LGA 1150 mobo

Solution
There is a reason that the software is telling you that there is a update and you need to think really hard before not doing the update. The reason for updates is that bugs get fixed.

There is no problem with plugging in the SSD into a SATA port. Plugging into a SATA port will make the cloning go faster.

After download the Samsung Magician software, extract it to make it usable. Samsung_Magician_Setup_v46.zip.33dti6g will extract into a usable file 4 times larger.

There are Youtube videos on using the Samsung Magician software.

After finishing the cloning, make to change the settings in BIOS for SSD first bootable device and that the SSD is plugged into SATA 0.
