Question about selling SWG...

I'm going to be selling SWG on ebay. It's a great game, I just no longer
have the time committment to play it regularly.

My question is pretty obvious, but I just wanted to make absolutely sure. I
used my free month of service and then some. When I sell the game, the buyer
will not have the initial free month. Is this correct?

TIA

There really is no reason to buy a "used" copy of SWG. The only reason to do
so would be to get the characters that the person has created In any case if
someone uses your CD to install the software onto their machine they will
need your login ID in order to use it. Accounts are tied to the serial
number on the CD case.

Unless it's someone you know and trust it could be problematic to turn the
account over. The buyer will need to login and change the billing
information.

Thanks for the info. Wow. That's quite a money maker, then. A game that
buyers are stuck with, and can't sell themselves?

Yep, it's quite a racket IMHO. Think about it, they charge you $50 for SW
that you have to have to access their online servers so they can charge you
another $12 per month.

As I mentioned the only way to transfer the SW to someone else is if you can
ensure that they won't steal your billing information. So, if it's someone
you know it's probably not that hard to do.

Cheers

I didn't know there was really a market for used PC games anyway.

What about if you cancel your account and then sell the CD?

Still no good. The CDs themselves for SWG are only a means of getting the game
installed on a computer. What you're really paying for is the key that comes
with them. The key is tied (forever and ever) to the account that they're
registered to. It doesn't matter if that account is cancelled or not. So, if the
key has been used, there's not reason, ever, to buy the CDs. And there's no way
to prove ahead of time that an account key hasn't been used.

Yeah,

You can sell your account on Ebay, they will have to use your username and
password. Your account is probably worth more than the game if you played
for a long time.

Well, cable TV or phone service cost a lot more - it's your choice if you
want to use them and how much you want to pay . That's just the way it is.
Personally, I play SWG 2-4 hrs nightly- more than any other game I've ever
had. I like SOE's support and how they try to provide content etc...to keep
the game static and alive; that's difficult in any game as many become
routine after awhile.

I would contact SOE first and ask about the re-sell of the original
software.

Here is their official statement:

" Below is the promised "official statement" regarding online auctions of
credits, characters, etc. related to Star Wars Galaxies.

We hope you are enjoying Star Wars GalaxiesT: An Empire DividedT. This
notice is to remind you that the purchase, sale or auction of any
characters, items, credits or any copyrighted material associated with Star
Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided is an infringement of applicable

LucasArts encourages you to use the bazaar and the secure trade feature in
the game to trade any credits or items, as these features were designed
specifically to support the in-game economy. Many people have contacted
LucasArts to report improper sales and auctions as they believe such
activity interferes with their positive gaming experience. Please note that
LucasArts will be working closely with various companies to ensure that
improper sales, purchases or auctions do not occur in the future.

We look forward to your continued enjoyment of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire

Wrong. It is forbidden by the eula, but isn't "illegal" at all. If it
was illegal Yantis would not have made millions off of it and there
would not be a gigantic company called IGE that even bought him out.
