I'm getting some audio artifacting with my pc hooked up to my projector. Having friends over to game on it again Saturday. Last time we lost sound altogether at one point.

Someone mentioned to check what the output from my motherboard is to see that is it 48000 hz. Apparently that's kind of the standard. I did some research online and found that is correct and that sometimes a 41000 hz is used but that's cd quality. Anyway, I found where to change it on my pc and I wanted to post the options I have here to see what I should be using so that I'm not getting two different settings in case that's what is messing up my audio.

16bits 44100
16bits 48000
16bits 96000
16bits 192000
24bits 44100
24bits 48000
24bits 96000
24bits 192000

24bits 48000
Is what my sound settings are set to.

Are you working with a discrete sound card or your motherboard's onboard sound card? If the latter, what is the make and model of your motherboard? What BIOS version are you on for said motherboard? What OS are you working with? If you're on Windows 11, check to see that your OS is up to date.

Please don't state looking at your sig space specs. Please include said specs in your thread's body since sig space specs can and will change over time, rendering this thread and it's subsequent suggestions moot tot he end user in the same boat as you're in now.

Would be a good idea to pass on a video w/audio of the stutter you speak of.

Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Sound>(pass on a screenshot of what you see in this window).

Include the make and model of your projector and how you're tethered to the system in question. On that note, if you're not using an analog connection from your sound card to the projector but instead are using the HDMI or Display Port cable, then you will need to look at your GPU drivers and subsequent audio settings found within Sound Manager for your display output.

So much! I'll try where I can to start.

I am going through the bottom right corner of my desktop screen where I access speakers etc. There is a realtek had audio manager which is my onboard sound. Mine appears to be set to 16bit 48000.

Motherboard's onboard. MSI z170a mpower titanium. Not sure about the bios. Windows 10. Processor is too old to upgrade to 11.

I can try to record it tomorrow if it happens again. It sounds like it degrades over time. Quitting out of the game and loading the game again usually fixes it, at least temporarily again.

Epson 5050ub. New Ruipro fiber cables from GPU to denon AV and from denon AV to projector. No video issues. HDMI out of GPU. GPU drivers should be up to date as I mainly game on it.

I wonder if I need to change something manually when I load up the game through the projector so that it isn't still trying to send audio to my desktop speakers or my headset or something?

Just tested to make sure, and when I send the picture to the projector, Denon-AVR turns green and becomes the default device.

Is there such a thing as the onboard audio getting too taxed over time, or overheating over time? I mean, the build is old and I can attest to the fact that when you get old, things stop working the same way.

Any reason to try switching from 16bit 48000 to 24bit 48000?

Any way to tell what my projector or receiver are looking for so that they are on the same setting?
