so i had a issue about a year ago i have a 2tb adata ssd it says type c and type a compatible. however if i use a type a/c connect to plug the ssd into my pc rather into my usb hub or into the 3.0 usb port it overloads and turns all my usb ports off and sends my pc into the a song of the bells that something is being plugged in and out of a usb port . if i use my type c port everything runs fine other than twice i had to repair it due to corruption in data. this is my problem i want to get a new ssd since a game is coming out soon i want i keep all my games on ssd's i have 5 of them. i do not want a type c ssd i only have one plug and it is a pain to get to the plug in order to plug a ssd in or out of it. but seems like i cannot find a normal ssd that is type a based without paying double the 3.2 gen 2 are.

You do realize that the speed of transfer is going to be different between a USB-C and USB-A connected SSD right?

Get a USB-C extension cable that allows you to bring it to a comfortable location if you are die-hard on keeping it external or even look at getting an enclosure that you could use.

If anything, this sounds more like a problem with either the SSD or the converter you used. If the converter came with the SSD, then I would point the finger more at the SSD.

Though this is assuming the other side is working fine. But that could also be a problem.

i think it more that adata labeled it wrong it comes with both a type c and a type a connector but in the fine print of the box it says it is a 3.2 gen 2 type c so i think it just to much and overloads my usb's and it not suppost to be used on type a
