Hi, to all the community. I recently purchased a phenom x4 955 rev c2 along with an artic freezer pro 7 rev2. Since the time of installing, i have been monitoring temps and on idle i get 39-40c on start and while gaming, temps go to 59-60c on the cores and on the cpu is around 51-52c; note: i don't have any overclocking. I runned prime95 and after just a few minutes, cores went to as high as 71c and remain there for five minutes of blend stress. So my question is if buying the hyper 212 plus or evo will decrease these temps? Also will it fit my current case? Power Gamer xtech case Dimmensions

Solution
It looks like you'd get better temps. The Hyper212 is a good bit bigger, and the fan may be better compared to that 92mm fan. To be sure, I'd calculate the squared surface area of both heatsinks and compare the difference. Probably not necessary though.

Barring that, I recently used a Hyper 212 Evo for a friends build with the FX-6300. With the min fan speed at 600 rpm, and the setting on turbo, he gets sub-55C temps even with the CPU overclocked to 4.5Ghz

Edit: To be sure it fits you'll either have to measure the max size yourself somehow, or look up the max recommended size for the case. The Hyper 212 isn't enormous but it's always good to double-check.

All right i follow your advise and with a ruler, i measure the high from the base of cpu to the top of my case lid and there is 7,08 inches and hyper 212 is 6,2. Comparing to my current cooler is one inch more. Guess there's no problem with the hyper 212

Edit: which should be better hyper 212 plus or evo?

The simple answer: the EVO. The reason - the two coolers are almost the same, but the heatpipes on the EVO have been fused to allow for better contact with the CPU heat-spreader. Either will do the job, but if they are both within a few dollars I would go with the Evo.

Also, while I'm not 100% on this, I believe the fan was improved from the Plus to the Evo.
