Question about this router

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Motorola-SURFboard-SB5101U-USB-Cable-Modem/14224135 Routers like these with the modem built in, do you still need a modem box to make them work? Or can you just plug them up anywhere in the house where theres a outlet?

The link you posted is only for a cable modem, that connects to your computer via a usb port. It is not a combined modem and router.

If you have cable your better off getting a cable modem/router with ethernet.

That is a combo modem/router but I don't like those. If either of those break, you need to replace the whole thing. You're better off with a modem and a separate router.
