Go to Asus's website and look for the motherboard's specifications.

Be sure to match the version number of your B450-F.

Specifically you are looking for the QVL (Qualified Vendors List).

Details matter so be sure to read all the notes, warnings, fine print etc..

Yes, BUT I would strongly advise you to NOT update your BIOS unless you are upgrading to a 3000 series CPU.
I have that same MB and CPU and I temporarily installed a 3700x on that MB which required me to update the BIOS.
I can honestly say that the Best BIOS for a 2600 on that MB was version 1201.

So I wouldn't notice any performance upgrades as they're claiming on their website for my specific chip ? this is confusing to me because some people advice to keep the bios up to date and some don't !

Every BIOS for that MB newer than version 1201 is optimized for Ryzen 3000 CPU's.
The 2600 will run on even the newest BIOS, But it performs best with BIOS 1201.
So if you had a Ryzen 3000 CPU the newest BIOS would be the best to use BUT since you have a 2000 series CPU anything newer than version 1201 will not work as well for you.

Okay so for my understanding, before i consider an upgrade to a Zen 2 cpu, should i reinstall v1201 since I currently have 2202 ?

Zen 2 = Ryzen 3000 Series CPU's and Zen + = Ryzen 2000 Series CPU's.
So for a Ryzen 2600 (Zen +), BIOS 1201 is best but newer versions will work.
Downgrading the BIOS is possible But can be tricky.

For a Ryzen 3600 (Zen 2), the newest BIOS is best.
