Hey Forum, I've been recently thinking about upgrading from Windows 7 to WIndows 8, I've done some research and have downloaded the Windows 8.1 Upgrade Assistant and ran the scan for compatible programs. It said that my programs were compatible, but I had to review 8 items, which wasn't that big of a deal. I also noticed that it said "You'll need to re-install compatible programs", I'm still confused about this because It just said they were pretty much all compatible, except one thing I noticed with this one is that it had a circle with an "X" in the middle, so if anyone knows what this means as to whether or not I have to install the programs again, I'd greatly appreciate an answer!

I would recommend a fresh start, you can use the Upgrade version to clean install, but of course it would mean re-installing your Software. This should be done using Compatibility mode to ensure no conflicts...

Well I just ran the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant (Not the 8.1 this time), and It didn't mention anything about "Re-Installing" my applications or any of that, here's the version of Windows 8 I'm currently looking to buy and install: http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Windows-Pro-Upgrade-Version/dp/B008H3SW4I/ref=lh_ni_t?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1XBPHGHAXLHDG
