Question about upgrading laptop components.

Hello, I have just recently purchased a lenovo laptop equipped with the i7 3520m , i was wondering if in the future i could upgrade my cpu , to say a QM with 4 cores and a higher clock, maybe a new fan or heat sink as well?

I have taken apart a few old laptops before (and put them back together), just because they were past their best days and I did this out of curiosity. I'm sure I can handle the assembly procedure if I take it slow.


I don't want to void my warranty and take apart a new laptop, but would it be possible to upgrade the gpu as well? I would do all these upgrades over a long period of time, not willing to cash out the price of a new laptop if it was possible.

It will depend on the laptop model. You have to look up your laptop model on the maufactures website then check the CPU compatabilty list.

if it has the same socket and chipset matches cpu yes . i upgraded fro a t 7200 to an x 9000 , upgrading to a quad might need a dif board because of more power needed and extra cooling .
