Question about Virtual Super Resolution

Hey guys, currently I have a i7 4790 non k, 32 gb ram, and a rx 480 playing on a 1080p 144 hz 1 ms free sync monitor with vsr enabled at 1440p. My question is that I'm considering getting a 2k monitor and was actually pretty happy with the frame rates I'm getting with the settings I'm using. Are these the frame rates I can expect if I upgrade to a 144 hz 1ms free sync 1440p monitor? I'm assuming the graphic quality will just get better. Am I correct in thinking this? The higher the resolution the harder the card has to work. At 1440p the RX480 will suffer the card was not made for those settings.

Yes, I understand that the performance will not be as good at 1440p, but my question is, that I'm currently running games at 1440p with VSR on a 1080p monitor and I'm getting performance, FPS wise, that I am satisfied with; would outright getting a 1440p monitor yeild me the same FPS results? thanks ssorry for the convoluted question

No that's a emulated virtual resolution
