Due to my budget I need to make a decition.
2500k and 6970
Or
Amd 965 and Gtx 580

Is the 580 worth it over the 6970 for 22"" 1080p
This build is for bf 3

Is 965 good for gaming ? Then I can get BD later
On?

I am currently using the 955 and its strong, has done everything I have asked of it. If I wasnt so interested in BD I would have gone with the 2500k recently, but I will wait.

we are all still waiting for benchies for BD. the 580 is a little faster than the 6970, and the i5 is faster than the 965. Have you looked into the i5 w/ a gtx570 for price point? Thats a nice balance there.

Well, if you like AMD is this not a bad route to go. Get yourself an AM3+ motherboard, like the Gigabyte 990FX UD3 for $150 and you can either crossfire or SLI down the road. Then when bulldozer eventually comes out, you can drop in an 8 core.

I don't know that you'll see a lot of difference between those two cards in games at 1080p. Mostly FPS bragging rights. So to me, it isn't worth it diminishing returns on your investment and so forth.

unless every game developer jumps on the hyperthreading bandwagon, i dont see how 8 cores for gaming would do any good over their quad of the same series.
