Question on Corsair Carbide Spec Alpha Front Cable Fan

Referring to this guy on youtube that shows how the cables for front fan should be done (focusing on 1:11 - 1:30). Youtube Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3ywSAW8aX8

My question is, would it be possible to connect the 2 fan directly to motherboard and just ignore the power cord that should be connected to PSU? My motherboard is a MSI B350 Gaming Plus with more than enough fan slots.

I'm afraid that I may damage the pins if I try to connect the fan directly to motherboard and then unplug it thus I came to this forum.

Yes you can ignore that method of powering them. Connecting them to any of the headers will be fine.
