As the thread title says.. have a question on G-skill

the G-Skill ram I'm looking for is F3-10666CL9D-8GBNT.

https://www.gskill.com/product/165/186/1532584439/F3-10666CL9D-8GBNT

but after days of search. The closest G-skill ram I could find still available F3-10666CL9D-8GBXL

https://www.thetelecomshop.com/au/g...0v-8gb-2x4gb-memory-module-f3-10666cl9d-8gbxl

what I'm looking for is "8GBNT", but the ram I found is "8GBXL"

question is what's the difference between these two G-Skill ram?
are these two ram the same thing?

The X would denote the Ripjaws X heatspreader and the L would probably mean the color of the ram kit;
https://www.gskill.com/products/1/165/176/RipjawsX
where you can see L is Red, M is Blue and H is Black. I also noticed that the timings get tighter as you look through the colors, i.e, L<M<H as if the letters H denotes a high(pedigree of overclock with the timings), M is medium and L is Low.

What motherboard and processor combo are you looking to pair with the ram you intend to purchase? If the prices of DDR3-1600MHz isn't much, you could get that and then perhaps tighten the ram timings while at DDR3-1333MHz, provided your motherboard will allow for ram timing manipulation in BIOS.

thank you for that detailed answer, the difference between the two ram is clearer to me now.

it's a bif of a long story why I want F3-10666CL9D-8GBNT. The motherboard is a Samsung Desktop System with an Intel Q9500 cpu. Oldest motherboard in the house. And it has become sort of a fun side hobby to try and improve the amount of ram that it has.

the motherboard can actually still do gaming.

0:00 to 0:19 of the video will show the mobo info on CPU-Z. Sorry the old pc is not plugged in right now, so I have to use this youtube video to show the CPU-Z specs.

0:00 - 0:19 CPU-Z to show Q9500, GPU-Z to show the 1650, and HWMonitor to show that temps are normal.
1:33 - Street Fighter V - playable at 900p
4:55 - Xenon Racer - playable at 1080p.

taking inspiration from this old Tom's Hardware thread.

there are a few other threads where people claim that F3-10666CL9D-8GBNT would work. Which is why I have been hunting for this specific ram for sometime now.

and this is just a hobby. Extra cash is being used for this. Won't feel bad if I manage to obtain F3-10666CL9D-8GBNT, and find out it does not work. :)
