Question on Gpu's x16 and 2 x8

Solution

It's depending on your processor as to how many lanes it can support. Their a few exceptions to this.
Most motherboards will run 2 video cards at X8 speed and if you look at the details on the motherboard some that have
2 X PIC-E 16 lanes are not true X16 lanes some will have a X16 @ 16 speed and then another X16 lane @ 4 speed.
For the advantage of running 2 cards at a true 16 speed over X8 speed their very little to 0 difference depending on how high end the video card is.
You need to get into the GTX 980ti range to fully saturate a X8 lane.
Then their another factor in the amount of bandwidth with the type of X16 lane 1.1 2.0 3.0...

so is there an advantage with multiple x16 pcie? or x8 x8? Im taking is x16 can double the process that a x8 can do?

The AMD boards that can run 2 X 16 are limited by their 2.0 bandwidth
Some benchmarks on the different versions with different speeds.
