Question on motherboard

I have a G41, E5700 motherboard. Will an Intel core 2 duo function properly with the given specifications?
Also there is 4GB of Ram and a nvidia Gforce 256mb graphics card.

Take a look at what socket it sports. Than look if that socket supports any core 2 duos. If it does you will probably also need a bios upgrade.

Can you please say bit more about bios..

The Bios was probably created before the said CPU. This means that the CPU will physically fit but the bios won't recognize it. Before you swap the CPU just check the website of the manufacturer to see if you need to flash an update.
