question on pulling wifi from a distance

what is the farthest distance you can pull wifi? also if there are trees obstructing (not a clear path)?
we have a college 2miles or less away that i keep pondering if it was possible for a way to pull internet from.
or option 2 about the same distance away there is a cell tower which prob has more trees and hills between us. but i dont think there is a way to connect to anything there though

possible to do it over a very long distance especially if something is sending a strong signal

look on youtube for home made biquads attached to a satellite dish the range is pretty amazing

Your college will have a few hundred yard coverage, not 2 miles. To cover distances like that you have to have directional hardware at both ends of the link and a clear line-of-sight. Cell towers don't generally have WIFI on them. You will have to buy internet just like the rest of us instead of attempting to use somebody's.

and i assumed you meant a college you were a student at therefore allowed to use the wifi

not that you were trying to get free internet you werent entitled to
