I recently bought a maxtor d740 60g and I've tried to put it in raid 0 with my older maxtor plus60 60g (both 7200rpm). When I try to run HD tach, the result I got is kind of low 44mb/s burst, 36mb/s sequential, 14ms. Any idea of what I should do or check? I'm using the onboard raid controller hpt370 that comes with my kt7a-raid mobo. Thx

my system:
ABIT KT7A-R
Athlon-C 1200
512mb PC133
Geforce3
SB Live 5.1
Netgear FA113 NIC
Windows XP

So you have 6L060J3 and a 5T060H6. You have two drives that are different in specs which isn't suggested when running RAID. That could be your problem. You have two different seek times and the drives both have different areal density. Both have effect on overall performance.

For example I have two 5T030H3 drives in a RAID 0 on a Promise controller and I sustain 43MB/sec, and burst at 80MB/sec.

Other then that make sure you have the latest chipset drivers and drivers for your other hardware.
