Hello Everyone, I purchased a new computer a few weeks ago and would like to upgrade the size of the current ssd. Here are the Specs, if it matters.
-Intel B250 MoBo
-Intel i7-7700
-Corsair AX860i PSU
-Corsair LPX 16GB (2x8) 2400 Mhz DDR4 Ram
-GTX 1060 3Gb
-Seagate 7200rpm 1TB HDD
-Samsung PM961 128 GB SSD (M.2 NVMe SSD)

I really havn't done much with the PC other than added some Corsair ML120 Fans to replace the tiny 80ish mm fans. The PM961 is setup as the boot drive. The HDD is being used to store larger files, pics, videos, and so on.

Now, I was thinking about either picking up a Samsung 960 Evo 500 Gb M.2 SSD to replace my current, or picking up another SSD (Samsung 860 Pro 512 Gb) and keeping my current M.2 SSD for my boot and driver SSD, and using the other for my Steam Library. HDD will still be for larger files and what not.

This is used as a Gaming only rig, with some very minor video editing. I am not an expert at all, but I do no a decent amount. Mostly Hardware, still learning a lot about software and such.

I think the easiest upgrade is to add an additional SSD drive. Keep the PM961 as the boot drive. Install games and Steam to the SSD. Also, use the SSD for any active video project you're working.

New PSU for sure. That should be your first path. I do not trust pre built PSU's at all. Go for that first.

I already have an AX860i from my previous PC and have a Corsair 500D on order, but that wasn't my question.

So the most ideal setup would be leaving the Samsung PM961 128GB SSD as my Boot drive with the OS, Drivers, and Support Programs for Nvidia and so on, and then install a 860 Pro 512Gb Sata SSD for Steam and Games, and use my HDD for my backup, large files, pics, photos and so on?

I recommended PSU based on your part list.

128 gigs will fill up quite fast and can be a problem later. I saw some threads on the forum listing that the SSD fills up too quickly. Unless you are very careful of your management on space on that SSD, I would go with the 250 GB at least for Boot, Drivers, and Support. Not to mention Drivers tend to accumulate as your update. Otherwise, you are good.

My PSU situation is fine with my AX860i

If I upgrade my current M.2 NVMe SSD, how would I go about moving the OS and other Data to the new SSD?
Can i just create a backup on my HDD, then install new SSD and move back?
