[SOLVED] Question on storage within an HP TouchSmart 610

I am in the process of repairing my Dad's TouchSmart 610.
The factory HD is beginning to show signs of failure.
I have already restored the factory image twice (Windows 7) and upgraded to Windows 10 but that did not resolve it.

So, before I loose it completely, I figured I would replace the hard drive with the same from seagate (that is all Dad needs).

I want to copy the disk image from the old to the new. Right now I am thinking of using the Seagate DiscWizard tool

My question is if there is a way to connect two HD in a HP TouchSmart 610 long enough to make the image?
Or, will I have to take both drives and install it in another computer in order to make the image?

I am not looking to install two HD permanently.

Thanks.

Macrium Reflect, and an Image:

Assuming you have another drive with sufficient free space to hold the entirety of your current drive:

  1. Download and install Macrium Reflect
  2. Run that, and create a Rescue CD or USB (you'll use this later). "Other Tasks"
  3. In the Macrium client, create an Image to some other drive. External USB HDD, maybe. Select all partitions. This results in a file of xxxx.mrimage
  4. When done, power OFF.
  5. Swap the 2 drives
  6. Boot up from the Rescue USB you created earlier.
  7. Recover, and tell it where the Image is that you created in step 3, and which drive to apply it to...the new drive
  8. Go, and wait until it finishes.
  9. That's all...this should work.
