Hi guys

So quick question, but I plan on ordering an RTX 2060 super

Was wondering if my PSU at 550w would be enough? This is coupled with an i7 8700k, 16gb ram and two HDD's, also plan on adding an M2 ssd at some point.

Another question, will my Corsair mid-tower ATX case be big enough to fit the RTX 2060 super? Along with my Gigabyte z370P motherboard?

Here is the PSU, Case, and Motherboard that I currently have

Motherboard - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0775JBB87/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Case - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CC...ywords=corsair+pc+case&qid=1572110299&sr=8-15
PSU - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B078XXNC3J/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thanks!

Solution
You can fit any existing length graphics card in the top slots of your motherboard with that case. The lower slots would only fit shorter cards, meaning around 280mm or smaller. Should be no problem.

That PSU should be enough, but I'll tell you right now that even though that is a newer gray label VS model, it's not going to last long with that configuration. That graphics card is going to kill it in short order. I'd be surprised if it lasted a year. It's simply not meant for use with the demands of a high end gaming system. A gray label CX would be better, but still not great. 550-650w is the range you should be looking at for replacements...

Which RTX 2060 Super are you going to get as you need to make sure it fits this length for you case:
for the top PCIe Slot 414mm...so should really be no issues as I cannot see a RTX 2060 Super being that long, and the lower Slots: 275mm as there is a HD cage taking up space.

No issues for the motherboard.

As to the PSU, it is not a great PSU abut it will do the job, though I would get something else with a better rating as soon as your budget allows..the quicker the better. Something like a Seasonic Focus, EVGA G2/G3 gold rating all the better.

I see, sounds like I should get a new one, shame because I only recently got this new PSU thinking it would be suffient for future use

Sounds like I might be best off ordering another one, now, rather then later

So I don't end up ordering the wrong one again, how does this one look?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CP...wer+supply+unit+cx+650w&qid=1572112555&sr=8-1

Part of CX series and 650w, or would it be best to go 750w to play it safe?

The gigabyte model

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07V582F28?ref=ppx_pt2_dt_b_prod_image

Specifically this one :)

My budget allows that I could buy another PSU now, was hoping I could hold out since I only just got this one.. But ordering another one isn't a problem (Guess I'll just keep hold of this one as a backup)

Any recommendations? If I order it soon, should arrive tomorrow along with the GPU

Looked at the EVGA G2/G3's (gold rated), very expensive stuff but if its whats recommended, it's not a problem

So I've looked at a few and I'm thinking of getting this one

https://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-Super...?keywords=supernova+psu&qid=1572113503&sr=8-3

But it says something about compact size, does this mean it might not fit correctly in my case?

Okay, the CX 650w from Corsair is actually okay and not bad at all for the money as you would save a lot against the EVGA G3...It has also been reviewed fairly well....so think carefully as it will do the job...

But.......I personally have the EVGA G3 750w PSU and it is absolutely fantastic, runs cool, runs quiet and has a 10 year warranty and has been reviewed extremely well so should last a long, long time and of course allow for future upgrades that you might make for your system. Just spend what you are happy with spending and don't go overboard...

As to the Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC, that is a good RTX with a very good cooler and it is at a good price...Also take a look at the MSI RTX 2060 Super Gaming X which is also a great RTX card that runs cool and quiet and looks a bit cheaper...which surprises me..but as with all things, both cards will run very close to each other so just get the one you like the look of better...

Thanks, didn't know about that version.

I'll probably stick with the gigabyte since the cost difference is fairly small, £10 difference, guessing speeds and stuff are the same.

Yeah I did quite like the look of that corsair PSU, that I linked to, but think I will spend the extra on the "EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3" and with the 10 year warranty is also very appealing with that one. I'm guessing warranty will come in paper form with the PSU itself, either way I'll be hanging onto all the paperwork and boxes for both the GPU and PSU incase I need to use any warranty.

I'll order it soon, I was just unsure of the "compact size" it mentions for it, wasn't sure if that meant it might not fit in my case correctly by being too small or something.

Current monitor is only 1080p but I'll be hanging onto it, because money, and also not had the monitor long either and try not to be too wasteful with electronics (as hard as that can be sometimes when you're a gamer lol) so I'm expecting the card to be pretty killer, plan on playing around with DSR as well to componsate for only playing at 1080p

Yep and more than understand. The RTX 2060 Super will be great for the 1080P monitor and will drive max FPS and look great too....EVGA are very good on customer service and I think you just have to register it online when you get it.

I am also in the UK...Staines Massive! so if you have any issues just message me...Have a good upgrade build...

Thanks

Just odered the "EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3" and it'll be arriving tomorrow along with the new card

Probably use this current PSU when I get around to building an old build, since I have an old i5 46900k, some ram and stuff lying around, just need a case for it, mobo with correct socket type (prob have to go 2nd hand) and I can have a spare build as well to go with my old gt340 build xD

Thanks for your help vMax and Darkbreeze :)
