Question Question regarding HDD health

Hello everyone,
I have seen an ad on a local market place where someone is offering a 500GB Hdd for half the price but it has 65% health ..does it matter? Is it safe to buy?
Help is required.

You don't want a used HDD with health any less than 100%.

I wouldn't buy a used drive.

'is it safe'? Well..."safe" is a sliding scale.
No drive is 100% "safe", not even Day One after it came off the store shelf.

When boxing it up for shipment, did he accidentally drop it?

Unless if was $5 or less, pass for me.

Do you really need it?
Expect this drive to be prone to data corruption and data loss.
It would not be safe to store any important data on it without a backup.
It would not be suitable for installing OS on it.

You could use it for some non-important secondary data storage.

I have 160 x2 hard drives but they are almost full and i need another one just for games and unimportant data..
However i have found something really strange..the current hard drive I'm using has only 9% health remaining!! What to do?
(The one im using for 1896 days with estimated remaining lifetime:9 days only?) Am i a potential risk???

Keep good backups.
As one should do with ANY drive, even brand new out of the box.

They can die at any moment, any age.

Or, you can wait until one of them actually DOES die, and then come here asking "How do I get my data back?"
