Ok, so I'm trying to install my Samsung 970 Evo in the MSI M.2 Shield Frozr slot and the manual says that I need to remove the 2260's screw and MOUNTING SCREW in order to install a 2280 M.2 SSD. I have removed the 2260's screw but I can't figure out how to remove its goddamn mounting screw, I've tried everything, no luck! Can someone please help a brother out? Thanks

I have an MSI X299 Xpower gaming AC with the same M.2 Frozr slots. A pair of needle nosed pliers, very carefully applied to the stand off (mounting screw) and gently turning anti-clockwise did the trick. Once loosened you can use your fingers to remove the stand off and move to the desired 2280 position.

Good luck

Hi. Thanks for the reply! I already tried that, no luck, i was able to install the m.2 ssd and tighten the screw without removing the 2260 mounting screw, maybe its not meant to move, or maybe im just dumb ahah, anyway, im just gonna install it without removing the middle mounting screw for now. Thanks anyway

i went and got a small screw driver kit, there should be a cross of slits, albeit hard to get slotted into but a standard small but wide flathead will do the trick. it also has a 4mm head to it, my screwdriver has interchangeable heads and the screwdriver without the bit in was the perfect size with a firm press

Blessed the internet, for someone ran into the same problem I could find the answer. The precision screwdriver without the drill bit is indeed the best option. It would had helped a lot if the manufacturer mentioned this in the manual.
