Question regarding monitor mounting on a stand

Hello everyone! I need to mount both of my monitors to a dual-monitor mounting stand. Both are VESA compatible, and I've found a stand I like and it is a good price. The stand says it can hold up to two 27" monitors, 1 for each arm. I have a 23.6" monitor and a 32" monitor. Stands that mount up to 32" are out of my price range. My question is can I mount both of my monitors on a stand that can hold up to 27"? One monitor is smaller and one is larger than the specified mounting capacity, so I don't know if that offsets the sizes I have and allows them to be mounted. I've never used a mount before, so I don't quite know how strict these specifications are. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The 27" "limit" is probably the maximum monitor size which it can support with the nearer edge still being on the monitor side of the post. If you attach a bigger monitor, the nearer edge probably overlaps the post and intrudes into the other monitor's space.

A 32" screen is 27.9" wide
A 27" screen is 23.5" wide
A 23.6" screen is 20.6" wide

So the 32" monitor will cover an extra (27.9-23.5)/2 = 2.2 inches past where a 27" monitor would go. The 23.6" monitor will have an extra (23.5-20.6)/2 = 1.5 inches left over from where a 27" monitor would go. Leaving you with the two monitors potentially overlapping by 0.7 inches.

So unless their 27" maximum size spec is based on there being a small gap between the two monitors, no this probably won't work, unless you're OK with one monitor overlapping the other (maybe only the bezels will be covered).

The other thing you need to watch out for is that the stand description says 22 pounds max weight each. If your 32" monitor weighs more than that, the stand wont be able to support it. (Even if it does, you may need to add a counterweight to the smaller mounter to balance the weight of the two, and prevent the stand from wanting to tip over.)

Thank you for the information! I should try and find out if the monitors will have that overlap you mentioned, and where the overlap would potentially occur.

Thanks for your interest in our monitor mount! The 32" monitor and 23.6" monitor together would unfortunately be a little too large for this stand to properly support it. We do have a newer model which should work though. Just make sure the monitors are within the rated weight limit of the stand and you'll be fine!
