Hello

I have a MSI Katana B13V laptop which the screen has been scratched i bought a screen replacement. But the problem is i dont know if i have to disconnect the ribbon cable on the motherboard before replacing the screen. I removed the battery and adapter and hold the POWER button for 1 minute for power drain. Is that enough or do i need to disconnect the display cable on the motherboard also? Because on my other laptop the backlight fuse got destroyed which resulted in just a black screen.

Almost certainly. If its not plugged into power, the battery is disconnected, and you've held the power button, there is no power left to cause you an issue

I would recommend looking up a service/repair guide for your specific model of laptop, as they can probably give you a clearer idea of exactly what is required for this repair through pictures or a video. Generally, however, you would only have to remove the display cable on the LCD side and undo some screws underneath the bezel.
