Hey all, Firstly thanks for taking the time to answer my questions here. I was not sure which catagory to put this post sorry in advance.

So I'm wanting to make a big investment on an upgrade of several parts.

My current build:
Mobo: Crosshair V Formula Z Asus, https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/CROSSHAIR_V_FORMULAZ/

RAM: AMD Radeon Gaming RAM 16GB

GPU: MSI Nvidia GTX 780ti, https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GTX-780TI-GAMING-3G/dp/B00HPS4B3M

CPU:AMD-8350 Vishera 8 core, https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284

PSU: Corsair RM1000, http://www.corsair.com/en-us/rm-series-rm1000-80-plus-gold-certified-power-supply

OS:Windows 10 Home
----------------------------------------------------------
What I would like to upgrade to:
MOBO: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130969
RAM: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820236077
GPU: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127943
CPU: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117726
----------------------------------------------------------

So my question is, What are the main steps I need to follow after installing these new components? is it wise to wipe my main OS SSD, and my other 1TB western digital drive? before doing anything at all?

What other things do I need to consider before such an upgrade?

Thank you.

Solution
You can delete all partitions with the windows dvd / flash drive. You may have to buy a new OS.

Or if you're no longer using the old system, get the mediacreation tool get the ISO get rufus

Put the install on a flash drive / boot from it. Then ring MS ask them for an activation code.

Tell them you changed the mobo and CPU

Ok I understand thank you, also is there a wrong way to wipe an ssd? thats what my main drive is on atm, should I wipe it and then install the new parts and add the ssd afterwards? or Do i need to buy a new OS?

roger that thank you good sir! Cheers

some suggestions:

1. Buy a i5-8600K for less.
It will perform better in games, and equally well in well threaded apps. You will need a Z370 based motherboard.

2. Buy a ssd for windows. Samsung evo is good, 240gb minimum, 500gb is not much more.

What version of windows will you use? There will be some issues if not windows 10.
Plan on doing a clean install.
If you reuse your hard drive, you will get an option for a clean install to wipe it for reuse.

Do not have any other drives connected during the install.
If you do, windows will place a hidden recovery partition on the second drive, making it all but impossible to ever boot without it.

Good luck in finding a GTX1080 for sale, plan on using your GTX780ti for a while.

Thanks for the input Geo, no luck needed in finding a 1080 my Msi gaming 1080 is currently in transit as we speak 😀
