Tried using this heatsink with an Asus Rampage Formula. Mounting this monster in required a few bent North/Southbridge heatsink fins but finally got it in. The problem is I got the infamous CPU INIT error.
My question is the pushpins on the Sunbeam heatsink are in contact with the north/south heatsink and was wondering if this was possibly causing a short (hence the reason I am asking here). I spent about 20 hours doing research with clearing the CMOS and doing other various tricks to try and get my CPU to boot. I never could get my CPU LED on this motherboard to light up though.
From what I have read I narrowed it down to as a bad Power Supply or Motherboard so I ended up doing an RMA on both my but I never did rule out the CPU heatsink in contact with the North/South Bridges as a possibility. Anyone that can offer some insight about this would be great.
