Alright, I'm not totally sure where this should be posted, so I'll post it in the forum in which my question is based on...

I have a P4 2.4 and 512 DDR400 RAM, and a Radeon 7000, 64MB PCI Graphics Card. What I would like to know is... Some of my games (GTA: Vice City, Halo) don't run REALLY smooth the way I hoped them to after building this computer. Do you think the Graphics card is the one lagging my computers performance? I'm going out and buying a nice one at the end of this week, but I just want to be sure that the Video Card is the culpret. Any other suggestions would be helpful as well.. More RAM? Thank you very much.

It will be a whole new world with the 9800 pro... Just to make sure-your running at least a 350 watt power supply, right?

If I were him I'd save that old PCI R7000 for some potential future use. Sure it's not worth $%0, but he could probably get an R9800Pro for about the same after rebate from NewEgg or an e-tailer through PriceWatch.

PCI cards come in very handy from time to time. And if they ever figure out how this multi-view/surround-view is going to work (if it does) there may be other possibilities).

Heck I'd keep it just in case, for trouble shooting etc. That's why I want some kind of crappy onboard for my future rig. Helps when stuff gets F'd up like demo drivers, etc.

But if the price is right, of course getting a $50 credit isn't bad either.

And hurleyskate284, GTA VC will benifit most in the Helicopter scenes, and HALO should see alot of global improvment. Also it will allow you to play other titles that would otherwise not really be accesible using the R7000's limited architecture. Even older games will look a heck of alot different/better, not just faster.

Gret advice Grape...because even the best cards sometime come from the factory screwy. I upgraded to an ati 9800 pro and was going to trade it. When I got the card the (9800) it was goofy acting. I noticed the fan wasn't turning. If I had traded my old 9200 in I would have been sitting around with no PC at all.

If it's true that guns kill people, then it's my keyboard's fault when I misspell wurds...
