Hi Everyone,

I have a couple of questions related to memories.

(Q1)
Is there any difference between memory running at 3600 or 3600(OC)? This is mainly when it is mentioned on MB supported memory freq.

(Q2)
I want to buy the memory below and install it on the X370 and later on when I am able to buy 3900X will replace the MB with one of the future MBs. So I was wondering would be there any issue in this scenario?

Memory: http://www.gskill.com/product/165/299/1552460560/F4-3600C19D-32GTRSTrident-Z-RoyalDDR4-3600MHz-CL19-20-20-40-1.35V32GB-(2x16GB)

Current MB:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/X370-GAMING-PRO-CARBON.html

Future MBs:
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/TUF-GAMING-X570-PLUS/ (This most likely)
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-X570-GAMING-PLUS.html

Many thanks for your help,
Ice

DDR4's stock memory settings are DDR4-2133MHz. Anything above that is an overclock.

I wouldn't advise on adding that Ryzen 3000 processor onto that board. Regardless of CPU upgrades, you should be on the latest BIOS update before you drop that ram kit on that platform.

FYI, the best you can expect from any ram kit is to have it at DDR4-3200MHz but that will need some fiddling and your results can and will vary.

Lutfij, Thank you for your reply.

Yea, actually I don't expect them to run more than 2966Mhaz.
For the 3900X, I will order the MB with it when it becomes available (currently Out of Stock).

Back to 3600Mhz question, do you mean that companies like G.Skills sells these memories already OCed? If so, what makes the difference between buying a 2133Mhz kit and OC it manually rather than buying a 3600Mhz kit?

Thanks,
Ice
