Question Questions about a gtx 1060

So I don’t know much about pc yet and i am thinking of upgrading from a radeon 7800 to a gtx 1060 but i don’t know if the pcie cables will march or if they are the same. I used a 6 pin 3x2 and a 1x2 that extends of the cable and it worked perfectly before it broke down and was wondering if i need an adapter or something for the 1060. Thanks in advance.

Make and model of your PSU and it's age? If you're using adapters to get power to your device, that PSU should not be in your build. That's a thumb rule, mind you!

I don’t know the age but its a corsair tx850
