I am going to be upgrading from DDr1 to a DDR2 settup really soon and want to know about DDR2 clocking.

IF I buy a E4300 and P5n_3 SLI and run 400FSb for 3.6Ghz....can I run the memory at a ratio higher than 1:1? If I buy DDR800 that will clock up to DDR1000 speeds is it possible to do it without lowering the CPU miltiplier?

Also, IF I buy one 1Gb stix for now...how much difference will it bake for not having duel channel for gaming?

Yes

What is "it"?

It will drop your max memory throughput by half, potentially starving the CPU. Just get 2x512MB now, and 2x1GB later.

"it".... is running a fsb of 400x9 to get 3.6ghz AND a memory ratio of 4:5 or something that clocks the memory higher than DDR800.

"it" is runninng a fsb of 400 and memory at DDR1000. through some sort of memory ratio higher than 1:1

Yes; I mean it will depend on the quality of the specific e4300 CPU chip and specific ASUS P5N-E SLI MB that you get. Since you'd be OCing the CPU 100%, but the MB only 25-50% (I don't remember its specifics), you'd be more likely to have trouble with the CPU under those conditions.
