My pc isn't liking this Queensland heat so I'm looking to upgrade my CPU fan tomorrow but need some advice. I'm running an AMD FX-8320 on an ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 motherboard. I've seen great things about the Coolermaster Hyper-212 EVO but my local store seems to only list the Hyper-212X on their website. Will this still be an appropriate fit for my rig and is it as good?

I'm open to other cooler suggestions if you think it's worth the money. (I've got a Noctua P12 on the back of my case that i'm very happy with so something like that would be cool.)

I'm basically just worried about size/compatibility issues. I'm not sure if it helps but it's all in a Antec X1-E case as well.

Thanks.

According to this PDF, the max cooler size is 150mm: http://www.antec.com/pdf/flyers/X1_E_flyer_EN.pdf The 212X is 158mm tall. It's pretty much the same cooler as the 212 EVO, just with some minor tweaks. If only it would actually fit >:I The Hyper D92 is a bit shorter at 147mm and includes dual fans out of the box for a few bucks more than a 212X; maybe your store has one in stock?

Thanks heaps for your reply man, they do have the D92 in stock. Is this fan still silent? The noise level for the stock AMD FX-8320 is ridiculous and is the main reason i'm looking to upgrade. I've just decided that i'm willing to extend my budget for something that will allow a decent overclock too. Here is their parts list if you don't mind taking a look?

http:// - CPU coolers are listed at the bottom right of page 3.

EDIT: All good. After some more reading around i decided on the Cryorig H7. thanks for your help.
