So, I just got my i7-7700k processor with the msi z270-a pro atx lga1151 mobo and ddr 3200 ram. I was doing some research and saw that for the most part, you can just go into bios and turn on the xmp profile to run the ram at advertised speed. However, sometimes it could become 'unstable.' Would I have any problems with the stock ram voltage if I just turn on the xmp and go straight to 3200 mhz? Also, is there any disadvantages or things I should consider if I go from the base 4.2ghz to the turbo 4.5ghz?

I see, so I'll be okay just activating the xmp! And that's good to know about the turbo! I have no experience when it comes to messing with overclocks and voltages, so if I had to manually tinker with things I'd be SOL
