i am almost to that point where i am able to build my pc and i need to know... can i store my ISO and my backups on the same usb and when i go to put it on my new computer will the files interfere or not? (win 8.1) also my laptop came pre built with windows and i found my windows key so can i take that one and use it on my new build?(i hear my laptop loses it then or it doesnt work but idk please elaborate)

Back up a few steps:

1. Store your ISO and backups on the same USB? Sure, but a USB drive is probably the worst place to 'store' those.

2. Old laptop with Windows 8.1....no, you cannot use that same license on a new PC. Your new PC needs its own OS. Yes, you will have to buy one. ~$90-$100.

What do you mean?
After your new desktop is up and running with its own OS, sure you can connect a different drive and copy stuff over.

It costs what it costs. There is no 'cheap'.
