Hi all,
Have recently splashed out on a new ultrawide ASUS TUF Gaming VG34VQL1B 34" UWQHD Curved Monitor (165hz, VA panel), upgrading from an Asus VX24AH (QHD, IPS panel, 60hz).
Sorry to ask, but how much of a noticeable improvement in picture smoothness when gaming should I be expecting? I've tweaked all the necessary settings - Windows settings to turn refresh rate up to 165hz, and set the refresh rate to 165hz in game (if said games give an option to specify refresh rate - GTA 5 for example has this option).
With my PC setup I'm able to play many games at a frame rate which far exceeded the refresh rate of my old monitor (in some cases over 165 fps). My question is how different should 165 fps and over look on my new ultrawide monitor compared to my old monitor?
Is there a particular game you'd recommend to really bring out the benefits of the increased refresh rate - DOOM (2016) or Doom Eternal perhaps? Right now, I've been playing around with free-roaming on Cyberpunk 2077 and GTA 5, and I can most notice the difference in smoothness/responsiveness when driving fast (there seems to be less slowdown when rendering oncoming traffic, and upcoming environment) and regular walking (can see a lot more character movement than before).
Lastly, should I turn on V-Sync in game and/or Nvidia FreeSync on my monitor? I have an RTX 4070ti GPU.
Sorry, I suffer from depression, so I can't think straight!
