I just take out the old RAM, put in the new RAM, and turn it on right? Someone spoke about resetting a 'CMOS' or something like that. My board is an Asus M2A-VM HDMI and I'm installing 8gb (2x4gb) of DDR2 RAM.
Just make sure you turn off the computer completely, unplug the power cable, and then press the power switch on the pc case to discharge any excess power still in the system before doing it.
And I hope you bought the right ram:
