Questions About the AMD 990Fx and 970 chipset

Is there any performance loss between the amd 990fx chipset and 970 chipset? I'm wanting to get the amd 8320 fx processor. And I would like to know the difference. Any help is appreciated.

No, there is no performance difference. The most significant difference is the amount of PCI Express lanes. 990FX supports upto 4 PCI-E x8 slots for SLI or Crossfire. Also most 990FX boards offer better overclocking features as they are more expensive.
