With Alder Lake now out a bit and optimized a bit more, I went out and bought a chip.

I have a question. I guess early on this chip had some pesky DRM issues. And also some people had issues with the e-cores.

So, how do the DRM issues get fixed? How are these chips "patched" I guess, for lack of a better word. Is there anything I have to do?

Also, is disabling e-cores something that I can readily do in Windows 11 if it is a problem? Initially, if optimized, I won't disable. But just in case I do run into issues.

I guess, ultimately, I just didn't know how these chips are actually fixed and what I need to do to "patch" them.

Thank you!

Hey there,

In actual fact, those issues you've highlighted have been mostly resolved. The DRM issues are fixed by the companies making the games. They release software patches for games etc. IIRC, only one or two games still have issues. In everything else the CPU works perfectly.

Windows 11 actually makes full use of Intel's thread optimization, and so utilizes the cores as would be expected and with great results.

As long as you have Windows up to date, and all games (software patched), you should not have any issues apart from one or two games that may not have their DRM patched yet.

You don't really have to do anything apart from enjoy your stellar chip :)
