I’ve never owned an LCD monitor; however the prices are getting better. I think its time I learned something about them. Specifically, how do I judge the brightness and contrast ratio? To I want larger or smaller numbers?

Anyone have any experience with this monitor they can relate to me?

That monitor does not look bad.

Generally you want a low response time, 25ms or less if your a gamer. You want high contrast ratio and brighness. You also want to run the monitor in the native resolution if possible, this usually gives the best performance.

Crap, all the good ones are already taken.
