Hello, ordered a evo 860 2tb internal ssd on newegg and planning to switch to ssd from my older 3tb hdd. This is my first ssd so anything I should know, about installation or concerns about my setup would be great.

My desktop setup is:
Mobo: Gigabyte aorus Ga-ax370-gaming-k7 (rev. 1.0)
Cpu: Ryzen 7 1700x
Gpu: Msi gtx 970 gaming 4g golden edition
Ram: Corsair vengeance Lpx 16gb( 2x 8gb)
Psu: Rosewell glacier series 850w modular gaming
As for my chasis upgrading to: Thermaltake Level 20 GT RGB Plus E-ATX Full Tower.

I know about making the boot drive for windows 10, and should get the software that samsumg has for ssd. I remember reading about having to do something in bios? Anyway, any help/tips would be great.

Solution
Specific steps for a successful clone operation:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive...
It is pretty straight forward. First, backup your system. Things can always happen. I suggest using the Samsung Magician software to clone your SSD. It is pretty straight forward.

After the clone is completed, you will need to boot into the bios and change the boot order. It will be setup with your HDD, and you will need to change it to the SSD. After you change the boot order, save your bios changes and boot. Should take you right into windows.

Ah well i'm switching completely to that ssd alone, no hdd at all. I mainly use my computer for gaming, reading online, watching videos/movies on youtube or such and barely anything else.

If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
Delete the 450MB Recovery Partition, here:
