Question Questions about "Video DownloadHelper" extension for Firefox

im doing a test with an extension on Win7 32-bit
i use firefox and the "Video DownloadHelper" (three ball) extension.

when i look at the list of choices, of different size, why is it that sometimes the pc ask me to choose between the companion aplication or through browser and sometimes it does not ask and ? i dont know which one it chooses?

Also why is it that sometimes, i can choose a mp4 vid but it is in kb instead of meg.?

alson why is it that sometimes i can choose mp4 or adp or wem and sometimes there is only one category of choice?

2. If it doesn't ask, which program opens it up? that was the selection
3. Some sites you will get a choice to download the ads in error, some sites will split the download into parts (smaller files)

how can i force videodowload healper to ask me everytime if i want to use companion app ? cause it works better like this.

Would you know how to tell this app to suggest multiple extension type of file not just mp4 for example?
