Questions regarding a new monitor

Hey everyone,

I'm about to go for a new PC and I've made up my mind on everything, except for a monitor. I've done research about panel types and came to the conclusion that a decent TN panel would suit my needs. The monitor is going to be used for gaming and occasional movie watching, and pretty much exclusively by me alone in front of the panel (aka viewing angle isn't important enough to justify the price difference with IPS). PVA looks well suited to gaming because of its high color accuracy and I don't mind its limited viewing angles, but the web is jam-packed with horror stories about it having the worst input lag of all 3 types...

So that boils it down to a good TN panel. However, every brand has a huge range of TN monitors, so I really can't decide. All brands are welcome, but:
-1920x1080 is preferred (it's already the de-facto standard here in Belgium) and I like it, so don't try to convince me off 1920x1200.
-Size must be 23"/24". If there is a 22" panel that is massively better than any other 24" one, that's fine though, but I doubt there is such a panel.
-Budget is flexible, let's say between $200 and $400 (but the closer to $200 the better of course).

This certainly sounds like a good monitor (and one of the few Asus models widely available here), but at roughly the same price tag, LG, Dell and especially Samsung have some tasty offerings that receive equally good reviews. What makes this a better choice than their models? Your review seems to classify it as a monitor that's as good as TN gets, but certainly not massively better or worse than what other brands offer.

I'm looking at the ASUS VW266H or the Samsubg T260HD to replace my 1680 22".
The ASUS seems to be out of stock / discontinued though at a lot of places
